COMMERCE CITY, CO – Local strip club Fantasia’s finds itself in an awkward transition between daycare and strip club now that COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to lift.
When lockdowns began last year, Fantasia’s owner Kimmy Learner had to find a way to make money to keep her club open. “It was simple dollars and cents. I had to come up with a new business model because the city shut down my club. Since my gals are used to people soiling themselves right in front of them, I thought, well, there’s your answer right there.”
Fantasia’s Night Club turned into Fantasia’s Daycare by week’s end.
“My girls got to keep their jobs and I got to keep my club,” continues Kimmy. “We thought we’d be taking care of kids for maybe a month or two. We never saw it lasting until 2021.”
Now that the city is relaxing restrictions and upping capacities, Fantasia’s is allowed to reopen as a night club. The transition has been anything but smooth for both sets of Kimmy’s customers.
“Yeah, there’s overlap between the two businesses right now, but we can’t let go of our daycare until our night club picks up. Running both at the same time has created, let’s say, some family drama,” Kimmy laughs. “The fathers who pick up their kids come by early and partake in the night club side of things before heading home. Some wives caught on quickly and caused a scene. Others still haven’t figured out their men are double-dipping.”
When asked if she thinks the dancers are setting a bad example for the kids, Kimmy raises her voice, “Are you kidding me? Have you seen what that Cardi B and Meg something or other are doing with that W.A.P. song? What Fantasia’s is up to is damn near wholesome!”
