PEPTO BISMOL ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS DUE TO END OF CASA BONITA
CINICINNATI, OH – As a result of Colorado landmark Casa Bonita filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, Procter & Gamble plans to lay off approximately 50% of their Pepto Bismol division.
“How Casa Bonita goes, so goes Pepto Bismol,” said division senior manager Todd Nelson. “Pepto Bismol could have never reached the heights we did without the historic post-Casa Bonita brownout.”
Indeed, the fates of the two companies have been intertwined since the creator of Pepto Bismol, Brian Feldman, first came up with formula in 1974 after visiting Casa Bonita on a cross-country drive with friends. Legend has it, Brian insisted on coloring the formula pink after the restaurant’s famous exterior.
Casa Bonita has been a landmark restaurant in Denver for nearly 50 years. The restaurant reached legendary status after the “Casa Bonita” South Park episode aired in 2003. New fans from around the world began flocking to the restaurant to experience the Casa Bonita squirts and soiled underwear themselves.
The restaurant’s success peaked in the early 2010’s and began to decline slowly until COVID-19 shutdowns forced them to declare bankruptcy. “We feared this day would come,” said VP of marketing Greg Daniels. “We are exploring whether it makes financial sense to bail Casa Bonita out or try and survive on Taco Bell customers alone.”
