Great Clips Vehemently Denies Hickenlooper’s Claim of Being “a Regular”

DENVER, CO—At a campaign event in Pueblo, former Colorado Governor and Senate hopeful, John Hickenlooper declared, “I’m a normal, everyday Coloradan just like all of you. I like a good burger and beer. And I’m a regular down at my neighborhood Great Clips. Every couple weeks I’m over there making sure I keep this fresh look.”

It appears Great Clips, the hair salon franchise with over 4,000 locations across the U.S. and Canada, didn’t appreciate the shoutout. The company quickly issued a statement refuting Hickenlooper’s claims. ”On behalf of our entire Great Clips family of salons,” the statement reads, “we adamantly deny that Mr. Hickenlooper is currently, or has ever been, a customer of ours. We don’t know who is responsible for that haircut, but we repeat, it is not us. We take the utmost pride in the caliber and training of our stylists and find his claim downright offensive.”

Unfortunately, it appears the damage has already been done. In the week immediately following Hickenlooper’s claim, Great Clips has reported sharp declines to both customer volume and salon revenues in the Rocky Mountain region.
